Finally made it to one of my bucket list trips. Iceland had been on the list since my days in art school. I had a photography teacher Frank Siteman who had ventured there to cover the 1973 volcano activity that had buried the fishing village of Vestmannaeyjar, off the southern coast. For some reason I decided then and there I would someday make a trip to Iceland. Since then much has changed and tourism is certainly at its peak. My 11PM flight out of Boston on Icelandair landed in Keflavik International Airport at 8AM local time. With an hours drive I arrive at my hotel in Reykjavik but the room wouldn’t be ready till later that afternoon. So the first thing I did was look for breakfast and using the Hallgrimskirkja Church as my landmark with its famous rainbow road I got my tea and the famous cinnamon bun at Braud & Co. I did a lot of walking that first day and captured many of the sites in the first few hours that I had researched. I was amazed at the amount of color the residents worked into their homes and businesses. More days were ahead with my tour group and I had much to look forward to.
