Saturday I was at St. Anselm College again for the Rite of Monastic Profession for Bro. Joseph Nicholas Wencis O.S.B. or also know as Temporary or Simple Vows. This ceremony marks the transition from novice to junior monk, usually lasting three to six years. It involves public vows of stability, conversion of life (often including poverty and chastity), and obedience, often accompanied by receiving new monastic clothing and a new name, signaling a deepened commitment to the monastic community and Rule, such as the Rule of St. Benedict.
