Lowell Walks Kerouac Visions of Gerard

Even with the heat this was a great weekend for some local events. I started with the Lowell National Parks Lowell Walks Tour “Mystic Jack” Neighborhood Walk with Steve Edington. We met at the Greenhalge Elementary School 149 Ennell Street in Lowell MA for a tour to explore the sites Jack Kerouac writes about in his book “Visions of Gerard”. I learned a little history about Kerouac’s family and Lowell’s French-Canadian culture a part of my own heritage. The Kerouac family home (one of at least 10 in the city) was being worked on while we where there and my favorite shot was of Matt the masonry worker with his expansive tattoos as the heat beat down on his labors.
