Last Sunday the Lowell Historical Society tour of the Hildreth Family Cemetery was conducted by board member Kim Zunino. This Cemetery is opened only once a year to honor its most famous resident, Civil War General Benjamin Butler. I was particularly taken with Butler’s 15-foot granite monument with bronze sculpture relief of the Goddesses’ of Love and War. Kim filled us all in on some Lowell MA history of a very diverse cast of characters.
