Carol Duncan RIP

Carol Duncan former Executive Director of Girls Inc. of Lowell, was a lifelong community service activist, teacher, wife, mother. We met on the announcement of her appointment as director of Lowell Girls Inc back in 1991. She was sent to my studio for a portrait for the announcement. I met a somewhat shy person with a hesitancy for appearing in front of the camera. Two rolls of film and I got one usable shot. Not my best work but not everyone is comfortable in front of the camera and why should I make it hard for them. We soon were working together on projects for Girls Inc and I started to appreciate that person and her intelligence more and more. She guided me well with Girls Inc and we produced a lot of fun work with their members. Her personal comfort level in front of my camera didn’t change much and we would joke about how we handled it. We had a deal at events I would shoot two shots and that was it. Sometimes I even got a good one. Carol passed away on June 23 this year and I for one will certainly miss her.
