Late last November I had the opportunity to meet and photograph writer Mel Allen at the Kimball Library here in Atkinson NH. You may remember him as the editor for Yankee Magazine. Mel recently retired after 45 years with the magazine. I had the opportunity to photograph a few articles for Yankee in the early 2000’s but never got to meet with Mel. When I saw the notice at the library he was presenting that week I made sure to attend. His presentation of his new book “Here in New England” is a collection of some of his many articles over the years. I have enjoyed reading these stories of amazing characters throughout New England and how they were presented then. At the end of each story he updates us on what they are doing now years later.
